MEREMARK
Privacy policy
Your documents stay on your computer. Meremark reads local Markdown files without uploading them. We do not collect your document contents, highlights, notes or reading history, and the app has no analytics or advertising trackers.
What stays local
Files are opened from your device. Settings, recent-file information and annotations are stored locally. Reading a local document does not require an account or an internet connection. Meremark does not edit your original file.
When the app connects
Offline reading does not mean that the app can never make a network request. There are three limited cases:
- Checking for updates. When update checking is configured, Meremark can request the update information needed for its version and platform and download an update you choose to install. Your documents and annotations are not included.
- Future Pro activation. Licensing is not enabled in the current early-access build. When enabled, activation, validation and deactivation will send the license key and the necessary activation identifier to the licensing provider. An app version label identifies the activation. Document contents and reading history are not sent.
- Remote images in a document. If a Markdown document references a network image, the reader loads it directly from the image source. Meremark does not upload your document or annotations with it. The image host can receive ordinary connection information, such as your IP address and the requested image URL, under its own privacy policy. A document containing only local content can be read offline.
This website
The website has no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. Fonts are served from this website, not Google Fonts. Like any website, its hosting provider processes the network requests needed to deliver pages and downloads. We do not use these requests to profile your reading.
